On 11 May of an unknown year, a pair of ROKAF F-5As intercepted this Soviet An-8 some 70nm east of Ullung Island, of the eastern Korean coast, while it was collecting nuclear fall-out after a Chinese nuclear test two days earlier. (Tom Cooper collection) |
In response to our call for additional "in action" photographs of NATO and allied fighters intercepting Soviet and Soviet-built (or similar) bombers, patrol aircraft, and transports, Jin Ho from South Korea has sent us this highly interesting collection!

...high up over the Yellow Sea, a Chinese PLAAF Y-8M maritime patrol aircraft (Chinese ELINT-/SIGINT-intelligence gathering aircraft, based on the copy of the Antonov An-12B transport)... |
...and its escort, an (Sidewinder-armed!) F-16D of the Republic of Korea Air Force... |
...from the other side, also an ROKAF F-4E in company... |
...and an F-5E intercepting another Il-20, this time high off Vladivostok! |

A nice study of an ROKAF F-4E escorting a Soviet Tu-95 |
Another ROKAF F-4E with a Soviet Tu-95RC. |
This ROKAF F-5F catched an Tu-16RM-2 somewhere over the Japanese Sea... |
We hope to be able to considerably enlargen this collection in the the future, and would like to invite contributions from everyone with additional photographs - especially the pilots which participated in some of such "Bear Hunts".
