VF-32 Swordsmen

AC202 - or "Gipsy 202" (BuAerNo. 159437) was the second F-14A involved in the clash with two Libyan MiG-23s, on 4 January 1989. The aircraft should have been flown by the wingman of that USN formation, and was used for scoring the first of two kills on that day. The second Tomcat involved in this incident was AC207 - BuAerNo.159610.

AJ107 or "Fast Eagle 107" was the wingman Tomcat during the clash with Libyan Su-22s, on 19 August 1981. The crew, consisting of Lt. Larry "Music" Muczynski and Lt. James Anderson shot down the Libyan leader who caused the whole engagement by firing one K-13 missile at the Tomcats from forward aspect.

20 years later, the VF-41 was still flying F-14As when sent into the war against al-Qaida terrorists in Afghanistan. Embarked aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65) the unit flew dozens of long-range air-to-ground sorties, mainly dropping laser-guided-bombs.
