The ATOS is managed by a Mission Management System (MMS) based on a a computer developed and qualified by Galileo Avionica. The ATOS system is offered for installation on any other aircraft. Alenia ATR-42 and ATR-72 aircraft may also be converted into freighter configuration with a new 116" x 71" large cargo door for container loading. The Alenia C-27J Spartan is also in direct competition with the C-295.

The Galileo Avionica Seagull Multimode surveillance radar is derived from the Grifo series. It features Air-to-Air, Air-to-Surface, Navigation, SAR and ISAR modes.

This improved variant has an INS to provide reference aiming data for the new Howitzer Computer Unit (HCU) which performs on-board calculation of firing data. The HCU, using an Intel Pentium III 500 Mhz processor, 256 MB of SDRAM and a removable 10 GB HDD, also controls and oversees the laying and firing functions. Other components include the Control Computer Module (CCM), Laser Range Finder (Monocular with 1550 nm laser diode), Muzzle Velocity system, Barrel Temperature sensor and Multi-role Radio.
The gun is integrated with the Indian Bajaj Tempo TD2400 FT 60 kW(at 4400 rpm) engine and be driven independently at a speed of 8 km/h. Max climbing gradient is 50% (27°) with allowable sideways tilt angle being 44°.
